Virtual Commissioning for PLC and SCADA

Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) is now reshaping with a virtual simulation environment and is becoming the most common choice for manufacturing/process control. Capable of performing relay-switching tasks along with applications such as timing, counting, calculating, comparing, and processing analog signals.

Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) plays a key role in the user interface of control systems (plant). In SCADA configuration, we configure SCADA pop-ups, user interfacing, security alarms, and trends according to the control system.

Virtual commissioning is the practice of replicating the behavior of a physical manufacturing environment with a software system. The goal is to provide an environment for the manufacturing automation controls engineer to validate their PLC  in the live manufacturing production environment for corrective actions.

It is also used to standardization the codes and SCADA system by developing global objects and Add-ons. By virtual commissioning, we can check the response & develop standard optimized logic.

Control Logic Sequence Chart (CLSC)

It is the combination of PLC/DCS configuration (add-on blocks IO mapping logic development etc.) and SCADA configuration. In SCADA configuration, we configure SCADA pop-ups, user interfacing, security alarms, and trends according to the control system.

Operation Sequence Chart (OSC)

In OSC, we interface the final control elements of plant-like control valves, Motors, Pumps, & VFDs. In OSC, We can also check all interlocking that we configured in CLSC.

Pre-Industrial Control Simulation (PICS)

This is the final step for the simulation of the plant. In this, we virtually create a complete simulation environment of the plant and check process interlocking, pop-up interfacing & alarm management at the plant level.

    Simulation Environment

In the case of more complex installations consisting of many different components (such as PLC controllers and robots), simulation environments highly recommended. It is possible to use programs that will run codes and access online tools that will simulate basic PLC programs on a web server. This will allow users to practice building PLC software without any additional software installation.
